Inspiration: the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative

From Wikipedia- Inspiration (from the Latin inspirare, meaning “to breathe into”)

Motivation:

External

Short term

Selfish

Competitive

Can be negative

Motivation pushes

Inspiration:

Internal

Adaptive

Enduring

Collaborative

Excitement and immediate action

Inspiration pulls

Leaders inspire- but how? People are intrinsically motivated-

  • Inspiring people is an inside out approach
  • Is motivation the first step and then inspiration?
  • Motivation focuses on how- inspiration focuses on who
  • Motivation creates energy- inspiration gives that energy direction
  • Connection and passion- your energy inspires others…modeling
